The first Presidential debate is completed, but it is far from over. If the right questions are asked and the right topics are entertained, I think we will see the closeness of the two major parties.
It is not what is said that is so important as what is not said, in these so-called debates. Can we not probe deeper into our problems? There is underlying causes for most of societies maladies. As an example, much time was spent on health care, which has all kinds of problems, but no earth-shaking difference in policy. There is name-calling, sound bites, and cliches, but nobody wants to get down to the nitty-gritty. In fact, the policies are much alike. All remedies seem to be postponed at least a decade. Romney wants to cut government employee enrollment, but by “attrition”. Leadership ?
