People are having fun over the Democrats nomination of Alvin Greene as South Carolina Senator. It seems Greene is somewhat unconventional. He didn’t have a campaign staff, campaign funds, or all the personal electronic gadgets that are deemed essential for political success. Plus, widespread challenges to his fitness to serve.
South Carolina too, is thought to be somewhat unconventional. Of course, South Carolina has been accused of being a misfit, on and off, for the past 150 years. Now, people are lumping South Carolina in the same sentence with Illinois. South Carolina and Illinois politics is not different than anyone else, just a little less subtle. New people, not just new candidates, but those too, are the water of politics - the solvent! I don’t know how the campaign will develop in South Carolina with DeMint and Greene. There is still a lot of miles to travel. But, for now, you have to go with Greene.
